Social Worker

The School Social Worker at IREC is available to enhance the development of a student's educational, social, emotional, and behavioral experiences. The School Social Worker is able to provide assistance to students on an individual basis and may also facilitate group/classroom sessions dependent on the needs in the school.

Our School Social Worker facilities many effective programs to support the social & emotional needs of students. Some examples are:

  • Rainbows (divorce, grief & loss)
  • Roots of Empathy (building empathy through a baby's development)
  • Volcano Club (anger management support)
  • Expressive Arts (anxiety & stress)

Our School Social Worker is a link to a variety of community agencies and helps to advocate effectively in support of students and their families. IREC's SSW also supports families with accessing the Food for School program though FCSS & the local Food Bank.

Our School Social Worker also has parenting resources on a variety of topics. If you are in need of assistance in any way, you can contact Lorelei Reader, IREC School Social Worker through email lorelei.reader@wolfcreek.ab.ca or call IREC at 403-885-4646.

Thank you to FCSS for partnering with Wolf Creek Public Schools in order to provide full funding for this program for students and their families.
